Mod Pay August 1-August 15
My days are passing by way too quickly. It's already August 15!

Mod pay

Please comment with what you've done between the August 1st to August 15th period to receive your mod pay. List permanent posts first and then games. If you covered for anyone, let me know the dates or games you covered.

Signatures

I've received a few questions about Signatures during this time, so here's some clarification for mods!

1. Signatures can only be traded for signatures, and members can only trade their own signatures. If you see someone trading signatures for cards or vice versa, please refer them to the Signature page on the website that clarifies this matter.

2. Members cannot ask for signatures as a choice card from Levels or Masteries. At the moment, the only way members can acquire signatures is through crayons of the color of their Signature's borders or through using the Art Studio. If someone asks for their Signature as a choice card, please ask them to choose another card instead.

Currently, Signatures is the only deck considered a "special" deck, which means the rewards for it should be different. I'll be adding in what the rewards should be, so keep an eye out for that over at Masteries! (If anyone has mastered a Signature deck, please adjust their rewards).

Games and Game Prizes

Since we have a lot more decks now and sometimes we miss out on posting a round of a game (or two), if you feel your game should give out higher prizes, you can consider upping the rewards your game gives out by a bit (though crayons should still be kept out of most prizes~).

I also think it'd be a good idea to introduce a few more weekly games. We have a lot of games with a good balance between weekly and biweekly, but biweekly games probably make players feel like there aren't a lot of games? Anyway, the point is, if you feel you can run another game AND you have a suggestion for one, please let us know about it~. Or, if you only have suggestions, toss them out and maybe someone will take them on!

Levels
Lucius mentioned having to move. I don't know if I'll still be receiving a Levels report, but the last one I received was on August 1 that ended with Siouxsie leveling up to yellow. [livejournal.com profile] eternalkanda, do you think you can give me an update this week, or do you need someone to cover that?

And now for an unrelated comment about games (since I'm showered now and can think much more clearly XD)!

I really think having more weekly games would be a great idea! It does seem to me like we don't have enough games, for some reason- which is weird, because we do! No less than most website-run TCGs, anyway.

A few ideas:
-General guess the anime/manga/series: We don't have any games like this, do we? Of course, it's another trivia game, so we probably don't need any more games like this. Plus, they're either too easy or too hard. XD

- A "Crazy Eights" type game- I just like trying to think of game ideas using the cards themselves XD This one would be kind of difficult, though, because you would have to pay really close attention to other people's comments. The game mod would start the round by posting one random card, and people respond by giving up one of their cards that's either the same color, or the next number up/down. You lose the card, but gain two random cards (like in Information Exchange), and you could post up to twice per round to make it somewhat beneficial. All the cards could go back to Recycled Art, too. It'd be fun- I might even be able to run it!

I think I might be able to handle one more weekly game, but it would have to be a fairly easy one and I'd have to post in on a different day than the rest of my games. Like the middle of the week, maybe? I think I can handle one easy game before I go to work one day. (Maybe I'll think about it some more and pick from the suggestions in the end, haha.)

I also think that maybe having some more monthly games or activities would be a good idea! The monthly activities that Tari suggested are a great example ♥ Another similar idea would be to do something like those Quests (http://community.livejournal.com/anime_lj_tcg/559854.html) they started up at anime_lj_tcg right before it closed. I really liked those quests because they were themed and really specific; you kind of had to go out of your way for them, but you had a whole month to do them and it was fun x3

A caption contest would also be a fun idea, but the only problem with that is that it would have to be another game we would have to vote on. I guess it wouldn't be a problem if the person running it didn't mind!

I don't know how well this idea would work, but I've seen it done at another TCG- basically, there will be a grid with a large number of squares (50 or so) and players can spend 2-3 cards to pick a square. They get whatever prize is underneath- it's sort of Pick a Color on a much larger scale. Some of the prizes could be really good, like choice cards or crayons, but there could be some with nothing (or just really small prizes) as well. Also, no two people can pick the same square, so once it's gone, it's gone. And you could pick up to once per week. It'd have to be planned in advance, which is why I said it might not be that good, but it'd be pretty fun- another source of cards for Recycled Art, too.

... I think this is a really long comment, so I'll stop XD I love planning TCG games, though!

More wonderful ideas! XD

I completely thought I'd be seeing something like a game everyday, but I guess since half the games are biweekly, it doesn't feel that way at all. The amount of games we have is actually quite a lot already, but then, not everyone is able to play all of them, so a few more won't hurt. But only as long as the mods are able to run more!

We don't have any general guess the series games. It's quite funny. XD; Ryoga's directions was supposed to be something like that, but it morphed into a scenery/location game instead? *scratches head* But guess the series is done so often. Surely we can be more original. XD

Hm, the crazy eights game sounds cool and doable! The mod would only have to post one card to start things off, right? I guess the only problem would be if someone posted something wrong. I suppose either that person would just not get rewards for that (if someone continues off that wrong direction) or the next person should correct the mistake and just ignore that if they see it. Hm.

You already have a lot of games, so only take on more if you feel you can do it~ (and if you ever feel it's too much, it's all right to pass the game on!)

Monthly games are a good idea. I'll have to leave it to someone else to plan them though if anyone is up for something on the monthly scale. :3

Hm, yeah, more voting. We already have a monthly designing contest that requires voting. :3 (And on a tangent, I am going to bring in writing for the Colors characters, though I'm thinking a general contribution post instead of a contest would work better for that since we'll already have established designs for the Colors characters for everyone to base their writing off of. I'd also like to have more fanart of the characters, so maybe an open fanart post...) But back to captions, that might be fun. We could always have different kinds of contests.

That does sound like Pick a Color on a grand scale. XD;

Out of all of these, I like the Crazy Eights idea the best!

Yeah, I really like the ideas of the crazy eights game too :3 It could be called Crazy Colors!

It'd be difficult to figure out what to do if someone posted an incorrect card, though, now that you mention it. The mod would almost have to be there to correct them right away. I doubt there will be many mistakes, since the rules are pretty straightforward... but I know there's sometimes some confusion about deck colors, so who knows? It would be worth a try, though!

I thought of a few things about the rules for it though- it could either be done the way I originally stated it (post a card of the same color, or a card of the next number up/down), or it can play out more like an actual game of Crazy Eights! Colored cards must be posted in numbering sequence (for example, if I post a Boxer05 card, someone could post an Asobot04 or 06), and to change the color you'd need a card of the same number (like playing a Revenge05 after my Boxer05). I suppose it could work either way!

There could also be special rounds for certain colors only, and so on *3*

...Aaah, this sounds like so much fun XD I kind of want to do it, but I'm really not sure if it'd be a good idea, even if I did post at a different time of the week. I'll have to think about it.

I'd also be up for planning a monthly game, like the Quests, but... aah, it seems like a lot of work XD I'm probably just feeling ambitious because of all the good ideas everyone is giving!

(An open writing and/or fanart post would be so cool! ♥ And so would different types of contests! I would so draw Colors character fanart~)

Eight is a perfect number for this TCG with the eight colors. :3 Crazy Colors is a cute name!

I'm thinking there might be some confusion at first, but once everyone gets used to the game, hopefully there won't be any incorrect cards used.

Hm, either way sounds pretty cool. For the second way, does that mean if we start off with a red card, the next card has to be the same color with the next number up/down? Occasional special rounds would be even cooler.

This does sound like a lot of fun! It's fairly original and doesn't require specific knowledge.

I'm trying to curb my ambition. XD; I think I spend a bit too much time on TCGs as it is.

I really want to write up a page on the Colors characters and display the art we have already. It'd be cool to have more~. It'll be a whole universe of its own!

Yes, for the second way, that's exactly how it'll work :3 It can always be switched up, though!

Only a few more days until the Mikan-tan contest is over, too! It looks like the results are pretty close so far, it's exciting ♥
