Mod Pay August 1-August 15
My days are passing by way too quickly. It's already August 15!

Mod pay

Please comment with what you've done between the August 1st to August 15th period to receive your mod pay. List permanent posts first and then games. If you covered for anyone, let me know the dates or games you covered.

Signatures

I've received a few questions about Signatures during this time, so here's some clarification for mods!

1. Signatures can only be traded for signatures, and members can only trade their own signatures. If you see someone trading signatures for cards or vice versa, please refer them to the Signature page on the website that clarifies this matter.

2. Members cannot ask for signatures as a choice card from Levels or Masteries. At the moment, the only way members can acquire signatures is through crayons of the color of their Signature's borders or through using the Art Studio. If someone asks for their Signature as a choice card, please ask them to choose another card instead.

Currently, Signatures is the only deck considered a "special" deck, which means the rewards for it should be different. I'll be adding in what the rewards should be, so keep an eye out for that over at Masteries! (If anyone has mastered a Signature deck, please adjust their rewards).

Games and Game Prizes

Since we have a lot more decks now and sometimes we miss out on posting a round of a game (or two), if you feel your game should give out higher prizes, you can consider upping the rewards your game gives out by a bit (though crayons should still be kept out of most prizes~).

I also think it'd be a good idea to introduce a few more weekly games. We have a lot of games with a good balance between weekly and biweekly, but biweekly games probably make players feel like there aren't a lot of games? Anyway, the point is, if you feel you can run another game AND you have a suggestion for one, please let us know about it~. Or, if you only have suggestions, toss them out and maybe someone will take them on!

Levels
Lucius mentioned having to move. I don't know if I'll still be receiving a Levels report, but the last one I received was on August 1 that ended with Siouxsie leveling up to yellow. [livejournal.com profile] eternalkanda, do you think you can give me an update this week, or do you need someone to cover that?

I am amazed at how people are able to go online away from home! So resourceful! *__* I'll be passing out modpay once I calculate what everyone should get.

For a silhouette game, the only thing I'm concerned about is the silhouette itself. It'd take some drawing skills, right? And many pictures don't translate to silhouettes very well. (...I tried to imitate those iPod ads before with the silhouettes, and it took me a long time to find a good picture to make a silhouette of). But if you're able to come up with silhouettes, this would be a cool game.

I have a really good way to make silhouettes! It's the method I used when I had a round of Poke Radar when I used an actual Pokemon. The only problem is that you need a very clean image, or else you're right, it doesn't translate well.

I'll see if I can explain... basically, in Photoshop, you select the entire area around the image (this is why it needs to be super clean, completely white backgrounds work best; but if it's not, you can do it the long way and use the polygonal lasso tool to select around the edges very carefully). Then go to Select > Inverse, which selects the opposite of what you already have. Then, just make a new layer over top of the image and fill it with black. *3*

Ah, I've always just selected the image by hand. This sounds much easier. Hm, I know games usually have clean character art. Might not be easy to find for anime or manga characters though. :3

Silhouettes sound like a much cooler version of guess the character. XD; Though this might be on the harder scale since not that many characters are recognizable by their silhouettes. Hm...

Finally back from vacation and have internet on my laptop again. I'll play around with my art program a bit and see just how good of a silhouette I can make from certain characters. We can run it on a test basis for a week or so if you want to just the difficulty that people have with it. If it is too hard I could eave one feature still visible in the silhouette like eye/hair/piece of clothing.

On the same note I was also thinking of another game slightly similar where we take chracters' signature item and have the players guess the character it belongs too. I was thinking it can be called something like "Analyze the artifact" or something like that.

Anyway I'll start messing with making silhouettes tomorrow(right after I catch up with this and twistserve). If I can manage it for several characters would I have the go ahead to start it (possibly this week so I can post it the same day as Reading Between the Lines).

You can go ahead and try it out. I actually kind of like the character's signature item suggestion more though (and it might be easier to do? you can use weapons too), but one extra game is enough.

I'd like whichever new game you pick to be a weekly game if possible!

I've already gotten three silhouettes of just people done. I didn't have much difficulty since I was able to find individual pictures with white backgrounds. I think I'll just combine both ideas to keep the game interesting. Some weeks with people and some with items. Everyone will have to guess the person/person who owns the items and where they are from with a reward of 2 cards.

I'm also planning on every 5 rounds to have a special round of either 2 people or slightly harder a person holding an item that isn't theirs(if I can find pictures like that). Then the rewards would be upped to 3/4 cards for the name of the two people and the show.

I'll start posting on Wed with my next round of Reading Between the Lines. Just need to figure out a name for it. I'm thinking Silhouettes or maybe In the Shadows... I can't think of any characters that are related to shadows at the moment.

In the Shadows is a cool name!

For shadow related characters, there's Nara Shikamaru from Naruto who manipulates shadows. Andou Tsubasa from Gakuen Alice (his deck here in the TCG is called shadow) also manipulates shadows. There might be others but I don't remember them at the moment.
