Mod Pay August 1-August 15
My days are passing by way too quickly. It's already August 15!

Mod pay

Please comment with what you've done between the August 1st to August 15th period to receive your mod pay. List permanent posts first and then games. If you covered for anyone, let me know the dates or games you covered.

Signatures

I've received a few questions about Signatures during this time, so here's some clarification for mods!

1. Signatures can only be traded for signatures, and members can only trade their own signatures. If you see someone trading signatures for cards or vice versa, please refer them to the Signature page on the website that clarifies this matter.

2. Members cannot ask for signatures as a choice card from Levels or Masteries. At the moment, the only way members can acquire signatures is through crayons of the color of their Signature's borders or through using the Art Studio. If someone asks for their Signature as a choice card, please ask them to choose another card instead.

Currently, Signatures is the only deck considered a "special" deck, which means the rewards for it should be different. I'll be adding in what the rewards should be, so keep an eye out for that over at Masteries! (If anyone has mastered a Signature deck, please adjust their rewards).

Games and Game Prizes

Since we have a lot more decks now and sometimes we miss out on posting a round of a game (or two), if you feel your game should give out higher prizes, you can consider upping the rewards your game gives out by a bit (though crayons should still be kept out of most prizes~).

I also think it'd be a good idea to introduce a few more weekly games. We have a lot of games with a good balance between weekly and biweekly, but biweekly games probably make players feel like there aren't a lot of games? Anyway, the point is, if you feel you can run another game AND you have a suggestion for one, please let us know about it~. Or, if you only have suggestions, toss them out and maybe someone will take them on!

Levels
Lucius mentioned having to move. I don't know if I'll still be receiving a Levels report, but the last one I received was on August 1 that ended with Siouxsie leveling up to yellow. [livejournal.com profile] eternalkanda, do you think you can give me an update this week, or do you need someone to cover that?

If Guess the Duo is going to be part of Conan's Clues, I can definitely do Guess the Eyes! But if I can only choose to run one more game so that we don't have too many trivia games, I'd prefer to do Spare Parts instead. I can take up to two more weekly games (or one weekly+onebiweekly, any combination works for me) - the games I currently run right now don't require much preparation anyway. xD

Addtionally, if I can be allowed to take on one more game, I'd be happy to do lottery too as either a biweekly or a monthly game, though probably in a way different than what has been suggested in General Suggestions. Matching just 1 card out of the current 5,800 cards we have right now is overwhelmingly difficult imo. o_o; I welcome anyone who wants to prove me wrong and show me that the method suggested can indeed work like a charm! It's been too long since I tackled probabilities so there's the chance I'm looking at it from a wrong standpoint. Lottery isn't something that need much preparation either, so I'd be happy to take on it.

The matching game right now is extremely difficult (not a lot of people get any matches), though I see that whoever does match things is very happy. XD; Actually, if you want to discontinue it to do something else, that would be fine too?

It looks like Moon will be adding one game (still trivia related) and Chikky will be doing a monthly thing. I don't know if Eri is going to pick up the Crazy Eights game she suggested, but if not, I'd really like someone to! (could you ask her what she decided in the end?)

I feel like I should lay out all our current games and calculate the highest possible amount of cards a person can earn in one to two weeks since I really don't have a good enough clue (I only know that we have quite a number of games, much more than some TCGs)...but I guess no one has been overwhelmed yet, and if you guys aren't overwhelmed with passing out prizes, then things are okay for now.

So yeah, to sum it up, if Eri can do Crazy Eights, by all means, go ahead and pick any other weekly game idea you'd like to do, but if no one does Crazy Eights...well, I'd like someone to do it!

What do you have in mind for lottery?
[identity profile] ratiosu.livejournal.com on August 23rd, 2010 10:28 am (UTC)
I don't mind continuing card match - in the first place, I don't think many people count on actually earning substantial numbers of cards from that game anyway, at least I don't personally. xD I see it more as a ~free lucky draw~ thing. But if you're in favour of discontinuing it for a trivia game so that more people can stand a better chance of winning cards or the lottery, that's totally fine too!

And I'd love to do Guess the Mecha as an additional weekly game. :Db

As for lottery, I can't think of any special way to do it than using numbers. :/ But one of my friends whom I spoke to about game ideas suggested that instead of using plain old numbers, we can use the 22 Major Arcana from tarot instead. It's no different from using numbers really, only now we have really fancy lottery tickets ahaha.

-We have the numbers 1-25. People can buy tickets with cards, decide which numbers they want to choose and then hope to get lucky matches. Basically, what was done at [livejournal.com profile] anime_lj_tcg.
-We have the numbers again, and people can buy tickets. But instead of matching numbers, each number will have a set reward. Before the lottery commences, the mod will make a screened post to decide beforehand which numbers have which rewards. On the other hand, imagine if a person bought 5 numbers and matched all of them, only to get small rewards of 1 or 2 cards each behind all of them. xD;
-[livejournal.com profile] tcg_exchange has this really cool lotto system, where they put up tickets of the numbers 1 to 100. Each number can only be bought once, and behind every number is a set reward. So, it's really a bigger version of the second method.

Out of these three ideas, I think the first one is the most fair, but the first and the third are rather unoriginal, and it feels like I'm copying the respective TCGs lol. But there's really no other way of playing lottery other than pick numbers and get lucky.

If you're fine with continuing the matching game even while adding other games, then it's fine. :3

The second way for lottery sounds like a much bigger version of...pick a color, just with payment involved. So I suppose the third way is an even larger version of that, haha.

Hm, well, I would be fine with lottery if it was a monthly thing. I think I like having numbers chosen best (with prizes being higher the more numbers you picked right) because it would make it more than a larger version of pick a color.

Unless we do the 2nd/3rd method and have prizes other than cards too. Such as...an extra copy of their Signature. Ability to suggest 5 decks this month. Things like that. (but they'd need to be one time use or things that expire )
[identity profile] ratiosu.livejournal.com on August 23rd, 2010 11:03 am (UTC)
If you like the first method, we can totally do that, and making it monthly sounds reasonable to me. :D

Though, adding other sort of one-time-use prizes sound really good too! That might even encourage more people to join since prizes are now more than just cards and crayons. And it makes more sense since you're paying cards to join in the game, plus it'll be monthly on top of that. If we can add in these one-time-use prizes, then I prefer the 2nd method to the 1st one.
lucathia[personal profile] lucathia on August 23rd, 2010 11:08 pm (UTC)
The first method is the most straightforward, so if there's any time when there's not enough time to plan, I think this is something we can fall back on.

For the second method, we'll have to plan out what the other prizes are! And how many prizes there'll be in all. What ideas for prizes do you have?
[identity profile] ratiosu.livejournal.com on August 24th, 2010 06:50 am (UTC)
Just talked to Eri about Crazy Eights - she'd be happy to do it! It'll likely be posted on weekdays. :D

Secondly, I can start posting for Spare Parts next week, probably on one of the weekdays. We have a lot of games during the weekends, and it makes the weekdays seem less active. xD But somehow, when I go to check the Archive for a good day to post, it feels like we have at least one post every day. *scratches head* Currently, I'm thinking of posting on Tuesday! And for prizes, as a start, I'm thinking of two cards for easy rounds, maybe three [or four? Is four too much?] when we gradually get to harder and more obscure rounds.

As for lottery, here's what I have so far:
-Pick 5 numbers out of 25. Each number costs 1 ticket

Prizes:
-12 blanks

-13 prizes:

--5 numbers containing 2 cards each
--4 numbers containing 4 cards each
--2 prizes containing one crayon each [[or 6 cards, if you don't want crayons to be given out]]
--1 second prize [[another extra-special prize? Or a 2 crayons // 4card-1crayon prize?]]
--1 grand prize [[the extra-special prize]]

Do the prizes look reasonable and balanced enough? Just let me know if you think some prizes are too high, or some numbers are too low - all we need to do is to play around the numbers until everything looks good.

As for extra-special prizes, I asked for input from the players on my f-list, and got a couple of interesting ideas:
-doubling your rewards for sketchpads for a month
-doubling the amount of graphics you can donate for one month [[alternatively, doubling [or maybe just increasing?] the rewards you get for your graphics donation for that month]]
-receive one extra random card for each game you answer correctly for two weeks
-for one month, half of your exchanges at the Art Studio will cost one card less (basically what it says; for example, you could get two choice cards for 2 cards each, but your other 2 choice cards for the month will cost the normal 3 cards)
-claim one extra card from Recycled Art every week for a month
-Be able to switch up to two times per round of Switch It Up for a month
-Double rewards on the next level-up or deck mastery (excluding a Portfolio mastery)
-For two weeks, you're allowed to trade in one crayon at the Art Shop for 2 cards of the same color

Many thanks to [livejournal.com profile] vriska, [livejournal.com profile] flag, [livejournal.com profile] chuukoku for the awesome suggestions! I think in the future, we could ask for ideas for extra-special prizes from players on [livejournal.com profile] colors_trade.

And alternatively, if we run out of ideas for extra-special prizes:
Percentages are based on if you buy 5 tickets

1 match [[20%]]: 2 random cards
2 matches [[3.33%]]: 5 random cards
3 matches [[0.43%]]: 8 random cards, 1 crayon
4 matches [[0.04%]]: 15 random cards, 4 crayons
5 matches [[0.0018%]]: 21 random cards, 6 crayons

Once again, if you think the prizes are too high/low, just let me know. :D
lucathia[personal profile] lucathia on August 24th, 2010 08:01 am (UTC)
The one crayon prizes sound fine.

Second prize...as a player, I prefer 4 cards and 1 crayon over 2 crayons. Maybe other people feel differently. XD;

Doubling rewards for sketchpads for a month sounds like it could become a lot. Maybe...increase rewards by 1 random card (or two?) Don't know if that's too stingy. ^^;;

Doubling graphic donation limit or rewards both sound fine.

I don't know if we'll be able to keep track of the game rewards one very well? I guess ppl would just have to remember to include that as part of their answer.

The crayon one is a bit too much (The one that goes For two weeks, you're allowed to trade in one crayon at the Art Shop for 2 cards of the same color), but all the other ones sound good. ;3 We don't have a lot of cards in Recycled Art at the moment though, so you probably wouldn't want to choose that as a special reward at the moment~

I will most likely introduce special decks next month...so if you could make suggesting/donate special decks as one of the prizes, that would be appreciated~

[identity profile] ratiosu.livejournal.com on August 24th, 2010 08:13 am (UTC)
For second prize, as a player, I'd take 4 cards over one extra crayon too. XDD We could put 4 cards+1 crayon as the second prize then!

As for the increased game rewards, yeah, in my mind, the winners will have to keep track of it themselves if they want the extra cards. It's not up to the mods to remember it for them. When prizes are given out, I'll add a note to keep players informed that they have to note it down in their comments when they reply to game posts.

And I'll be sure to put down donation of special decks as one of the prizes. :D That could be our grand prize for the first lottery round too. Thanks for looking over the idea list! It was fun thinking up of what we can do, but it's really hard to decide how much is too much. xD;

Whoops, forgot about the sketchpad thing - I've changed it from doubled rewards to two extra random cards. :D If that is still too much, maybe it could be two weeks instead of one month. So either, 2 extra random cards for 2 weeks, or 1 extra random card for a month?
